Power Yoga/Hot Yoga Classes

The sultriness of a 'Hot' Yoga class. Thats what is on my mind right now. What started as a one-evening class becomes a great experience to remember.

The walls were painted 'Red' in color. Went to the reception, the lady had this calm face and a fit body.

Me and J entered into the main room where 'Yoga' classes are conducted. The room was very hot, it was heated to 100F. First we felt like 'OMG' where the hell did we come. Why did we leave our material comforts and come here. Why be in 100F, when you can be in 70F at home relaxing. But we later realized the meaning.

So, continuing my description of where i left off in the 'Hot Yoga' room, the slow moving fans and the dim lights reminded me of a second class compartment in India, where there was no A/C, and my mom used to say, 'Wait till the train starts, you will get cool air'.

We spread our yoga mat and because of the 100F, we become so alert and the room was filled with people. Its as if we are in this rat race where everyone wants the great benefits of Yoga.

There was no room to spread the 'mat' properly but no one cared. Everyone wanted the 'Release' of tension feeling that you get after a 'Hot' Yoga class.

You start appreciating life much more after that class.

Birmingham Diaries..

I know, its funny that I have memories in Birmingham, AL. Lot of people ridicule that place saying its very 'south' and 'backward'.
Well, memories can be anywhere from small to big. Its in your heart..:) It can be from a small village where no one lives in the world!

Well, so let me get back to my blog. As 'Thanksgiving' is approaching, I miss the 'Black Friday' shopping morning when I stood in line in 'Galleria mall' in 'Belk' to get boots which were on sale for 20$ instead of 60$ Quite a steal huh? I loved the rush in front of starbucks. That was the longest line but still I wanted that coffee. I like that rush and excitement of people. You will see so many people that you have never ever seen before in the mall. The malls are filled.

It has become like a tradition for me.

Living in Houston made me realize the value of a small city. When I was in Birmingham, I used to complain this city is boring. There is nothing much happening. But now, I am ok if go back there.

The greenery, the saturday mornings going to the temple which is so nearby. The 'Cultural programs' and the delicious food made by all the experienced indian ladies( :)). That was soo yummy!

Heart was content with that. And I miss our townhome. Yes it was a laid back place but it was very peaceful away from the hustle-bustle of traffic.

How to make this boring life interesting..

So, if you live in America, you know what I am talking about. Life is the same every day. You wakeup, go to work, come back in the evening, prepare for tomorrow again and the cycle repeats.

I've come up with some stuff that might make it more interesting..

1. Find one thing that makes you feel better no matter what!. For me its my chai. It makes me feel good, it turns my bad day into good day.

2. Talk to a friend everyday who makes you laugh. This even builds relationship. If you don't have one, find one..:).May be they are a chatter box and they want someone to listen!

3. Take off in the middle of the week. I know we think that why waste a day. But doing nothing itself is a vacation. Your mind will be refreshed. Think that your company can survive without you for a day. Its ok.

4. More to come.....

A blog about my Mom

So, you all have something to say about your Moms. I do too..:) My mom is a superwoman!
She comes and she conquers. Every morning I get up at 7 am, by that time, my kitchen is fully lit and she prepares something. Its so funny, you actually feel that she lives in the kitchen! This reminds me of my co-workers who used to reach earlier than me like at 7am everyday and I come at 8:30. And I feel they live in the office? Its just my feeling, not true but its interesting.

And she is so responsible for everyone in the family. If you forget your alarm, she will wake u up. That is, you can count on her. If you forgot to make breakfast, she already prepared and is serving in plates. By the time, you realize you forgot something, she already does it for you. Just there for you.

May be growing up two girls, taking them to school, doing homeworks with them, this is all taking responsibility. As we grow up, mother takes care of us and that continues throughout our life.
And you find a mother to be a dependable and granted for anything.

Hopefully I will be like my mom soon..:)

Houston..the sultry weather

From a long time, I have been thinking of writing about Houston but keep postponing. Well, lot of my thoughts have been shared with friends, so there are only few that are left to be blogged..:).

First the Good stuff, the 'Palm' trees everywhere. Always put me in a beach mood. The humid, tropical weather makes you feel close to home. Snow makes you so 'foreign'. As you were not brought up with it.
And the banana trees here and there remind me of Kerala.

And the cement houses in the 'Kirby' drive area is similar to jubleee/banjara hills.

Book and Person!

Today I was realizing a book and a person are almost similar. What triggered this thought was this distant cousin of mine. Well, distant means both physically and verbally..:).
We left him like 10 years ago when he was about 14 or 15 years old. Today he is a matured guy with muscles..:). Over these 10 years, he shaped his personality and body. When you meet him, he is so silent and doesn't talk anything. And their family too is boring.
But only when I opened his Facebook profile I saw he likes 'Roadtrips' and 'Fun'. I opened his 'personality' book which is on Facebook. When his personality was 'Closed', you think he was a boring person.
Just like a closed book, we cant judge a closed person.
Opening a book tells a lot about it. Same way, a personality is hidden in a 'person' which you have to open and see.

Thats why they say, 'Dont judge a book by its Cover'..haha

Rain..Tropical weather.Thoughts

Rain always has fueled thoughts in my mind. My sleeping creative side of me wakes up and starts writing things.

Rain and full of greenery around me reminds me of a Buddhist temple. I have nothing to do with Buddhism but I just like how feel when I am there and even when I google a buddhist temple, I love the architecture of the building, The 'Chinese' construction.

So I was reading a facebook profile of my friend. Whatever she writes, makes so much sense.

We all know Coke is unhealthy for you but who cares? :) When I am in the middle of a dance practice, and someone says lets have 'Coke', the fizzy, 'ahhhhh', feeling in your throat that you get when you drink it ! I get excited when I have coke suddenly.

I feel like it gave me more energy.

And drinking Coke makes me Cool..:) for some reason. Coke means 'Cool'.

Life's Journey

Life is unpredictable every minute. Keeps changing, but still I love life. Sometimes, you don't know where you are headed, you just go and feel like its not going anywhere. Still I love life. Its kind of like what she says in the movie, 'Highway', 'Yeh Raasta..Yeh..Bahut Acha hai', 'Jahan se mein aayi hoon..wahan pahunchna nahi chahti..Jahan mein jaa rahi hoon..Mein jaanna nahi chahti..'.
Hmmmm..looks like this movie has a message.

Its true, life is not about 'That day' the day when you will become the richest person in the World! Where you have everything you want.
But sometimes, what you want is not money. It could be anything. If it was money, then the world's richest people=happiest people.

The most happiest person is the one who thinks he/she is 'THE' Richest person in the World, though they are not..:).

'Insaan ki Kamyabi ya Na Kamyabi Wo Khud Chunta Hai'..

That is, you define your success. This is again from a Hindi movie, 'Luck by Chance'. 'Konkona Sen Sharma' couldn't become a film actress but becomes a successful Silver Screen actress. She says, 'My success is to be the best Silver Screen Actress'. She says that to herself and is happy.

Contentness is individualistic, its different from person to person. Some people think earning a decent income, having a good family, able to buy whatever you want without thinking about credit card bill, this is what I wanted.

Music and your senses!

Today I realized putting mexican music while washing dishes eases out the pain in it. Makes you relax and you dont feel the pain in washing dishes.

Mexican music while dishes.

Kishore Kumar while making chai.

Smile

When you smile. All your pains are vanished. In a camera, I often look people who are always smiling.
Smile is one instrument which hides your pain and make you look good.
So, you dont know who has problems and who dont. Smile makes everyone look happy.

Innocent souls!

Kids are innocent souls. Whatever they see, they think thats true. We need to direct them in the right direction. When I have kids, I will be with them like a friend and guide them. Do mistakes with them and show that you can make a mistake, only then you learn.

But, I don't want to earn a lot of money and have no time for my kids. I want only a little money to be happy in life. I want to spend good time with my kids.

Thai Food..

I didnt know I would love having 'Basil Rolls'. These were never my favorite. But today, I changed my mind.

There were soft filled with fluffy noodles, and carrots, and all the fresh ingredents. Pure and Serene like a tropical rainfall! Wow, I cant believe eating them, made me travel to places.
I felt like I was in a tropical island in Indonesia or Thailand!
Its just me or with everyone I dont know but Food definitely transports me to places.

And today, I was wearing this Avon perfume called, 'Haiku', which makes me feel I am on a sea. It has this beachy smell!

I have this amazing gift of travelling to places when I eat or smell something. My senses are pretty sharp I guess..:).
