What happens between my Ears and Me!

What happens when I listen to my favorite song in full volume! What exactly happens between me and my ears?

Its a whole world of its own..:). A song can take me to places, picture myself in that place singing that song.
Its like a refuge.

The Colors!

Why do I like Bollywood so much? Not because I am Indian. But the colors, the vibrancy, the people, the life!

I feel happy when I see Bollywood. They created a world of their own which has good music, scenic locales, simple stories, feel good movies, where you feel happy when you leave the theatre.

I am not really a fan of grey, black and white. I like Orange, Yellow, Green! This is Bollywood. Vibrant and Colorful! Here's cheers to my dear thing. Just like you tune in to your favorite radio station, your mind likes to tune in to its favorite thing.

And why your mind likes certain things, you dont know..:). But do satisfy it. Just like hunger for stomach, mind has its own hunger of things it loves to feel and see. So, satisfy its senses!

Live Life King Size?

What does 'Live Life King Size' mean?

Do what you feel like doing.
Eat what you feel like eating.
Sleep like a baby, as if you were born today and you don't know what the hell is going on. Just before going to bed, just think this way, you will sleep like a baby.
Dont think you are here to solve 'World' hunger. You have your own issues in life.

Living life 'King' size doesn't mean you should sleep on a King size bed. Live life by being content with what you do.

If you ate too much fat, workout. Dont worry. Its ok. Everything you eat gets burnt eventually. Eat whatever you like. This is just one life. Now, this is 'Living life King Size'.

If you love something, have money, then buy it, if you don't, save money and buy it. Be fulfilled in whatever you buy. If you are not satisfied, then don't just buy it just because others bought it.

Good Music!

Good music is like oxygen. Pure fresh air. It keeps me going. Its like flowing water. Good Music puts me to sleep.

Good music taught a lot about life. That just like there are happy and sad songs. Life has its ups and downs. But you still keep going.

Amma..why did you spoil me?

So, I hail from Andhra Pradesh, Land of great food. Mamidikay pappu, gongura pachadi, chintakay pachadi, but we eat everything with rice.

Rice with ghee and all these items is just heavenly to eat. Its unhealthy though..:(. I grew up with these tastes in my mouth and now all of a sudden I come to a diet conscious country. Yes, in USA, we count everything we eat.

And we categorize things like 'Rasam' and 'Sambar' to the 'soup' category. 'Rice' comes under carbs. So, I am this cultural confusion. On one hand, my taste buds are liking what i am eating.

But my brain tells me 'Hey...stop, you are eating too much rice', How to balance. When I compare 'Subway' or 'Chipotle' with Mamiday pappu, how to choose..Great ethnic confusion..eh?

Rich and Famous!

No matter how rich and famous, you become. The human emotions remain the same. We all cry when our loved ones die. We all feel happy when a baby is born.

Queen Victoria must be eating from a 'silver' plate and spending millions of pounds for her clothing. But at the end of the day, if his son or daughter dies, she and an average woman getting daily wages would cry the same way.

Human emotions remain same and you cant get the person back who died with money. So, what good does money do?

You need to have enough money but not too much. We still need to look at an item in the mall and say, 'Wish I had money to buy that'. That keeps life interesting. If I could buy everything, I still keep some things in the store and not in my house. That makes them special.

Where are you from?

Someone said they are from Delhi. The other friend said they are Orissa. Every place I hear, I remember something about it.

Delhi reminds me of parantha, eggs with a pile of bread, beautiful girls, pure hindi. Women wearing hands full of chudi and mehendi. Mehendi is a big thing in Delhi..trust me. I was in the Delhi airport, was observing some girls. How they get ready. Most of them had Mehendi for some reason, the ones married had hands full of Bangles. And they were on phone, most of them.

Mumbai..Ahh Mumbai reminds me of sultry and humid climate. Street-smart people. Good food. Eclectic food, that is you can find food of any culture here which is amazing! And people in Mumbai can cook anything from Italian to Russian. And these people never visited these countries, they just know! How I have no idea.

Calcutta! Ahh Calcutta, there is a cuisine with this name..:)..haha.. So, Calcutta reminds me of 'fish'. :) And Rani Mukherjee.

Hyderabad, reminds me of Hyderabadi Biryani, people who speak urdu + telugu mix in an interesting way. They should have a new language of their own.

Gujarat! Reminds me of Garba and Dandiya! Patel brothers who own most of the gas-stations in USA.

Now, lets go International..:).

China reminds me of Green tea, skinny people, beautiful skin. What else do you want? They eat really healthy food in my opinion.

Italy reminds me of pizzaa.

French reminds me of perfumes.

Eiffel Tower and Paris remind me of Coffee, Cafe Latter, Cappucchino and Cafe*.

Friends and their types!

Friends is an open 'term' but there are different categories of friends:

1. Facebook Friends

Just exist on Facebook. But you don't know their phone numbers. You just know where they live. And they comment on your 'posts' and 'photos'.

2. Event Friends

Love to spend time with you at an event. They only call you when there is an event and they don't have anyone to go with.

3. Spectator Friends
These friends observe whats going on in your life either via social media like Facebook or through your friends. But they don't talk to you.
They secretly keep track of all your activities but you don't even know they do this! :) Its like spying on you! Yah! Just kidding.

3. Party Friends
Again, party friends join you in a birthday party that you host. They want to be part of the cake and celebrations so that they can have some fun. But then, they never call you afterwards. They just appear at a party.

4. Office Friends
These friends could be personal friends or they may not be. They just say hi every morning. Have lunch with you. And evening when they leave, they say 'bye'. They arent necessarily part of your personal life though. They'd like to keep business at business.

6. True Friends
True friends, well you could be a true friend to someone but don't expect the same back.

  • True friends call you back when you call.
  • Are concerned about you.
  • Always are ready to help you in whatever situation they are in.
  • If they dont have money, they help you in some other way.
  • If you are in trouble, they are the first one to come to rescue.
  • You don't need to ask for help. They are just there for you.
  • They help but wont expect help.
  • 'True friends are those who are still there when everyone else leaves a party'. They arent the ones who eat the cake but who care about cleaning the mess.
At the end of the day, you do need a 'true' friend. Make sure you try to find at least one true friend. The rest all doesn't even matter.

Be grounded!

Be grounded no matter how rich or famous you become. It looks nice. As a person, you grow not in a 'kommulu' ochina way.

Greatness needs to show in your deeds. Thats when you are called a 'Great' person. Not because you are rich and famous. Mahatma Gandhi was a 'Great' personality because of what he did. But he only wore a 'dhoti' and won our country! :) Don't underestimate the power of a 'Dhoti' man.. haha..

Picture Perfect!

Is life picture perfect? When we say someone's photo is 'picture perfect', we mean everyone in the picture has the right facial expression and they all are smiling perfectly. Right?

But just how they say 'reel' life and 'real' life. I often noticed that people who are always smiling on the 'reel' life, that is, in their pictures are very sad in their 'real' life. How ironic..

They find more happiness when they see their photo than when they see themselves in the mirror.

Value of things

We often lose the value of things we have and crave for something more. But when we lose what we have, we realize how valuable it is. Its just the theory of life.

People are born to do what they do!

ARR Rehman should compose good music that would bring a smile when you are sad. And cure your headache and change your mood. Thats what good music should do!

Thanks to people who create good music! Its such a relief! When I have a stressful day Nothing feels right. And when I listen to my favorite song! Everything seems to be tolerable!

So, my whole idea of writing this blog post was that 'God' designs certain people to do certain things.

A beauty parlor lady does 'eyebrows' threading, which I cannot do. A tailor stitches good clothing which I cannot. Rehman composes music! Mohit Chauhan sings like velvet! Very smooooooooth voice like 'Folgers' Coffee!

Well, let people do what they are supposed to do. I work for a company. My services are indirect not what you can see..:).

Let me be me! People say I spread humor whereever I go. I will do this job for now. You all read my blogs.! :) I need people who do this too!

A delightful evening!

I am having a delightful evening today! :). Nothing spectacular. Just having good food, whatever I cook is turning magically delicious! And that makes me happy..:). And my favorite movie 'Wake up Sid' is on TV.

Music!! Padutha Teeyaga Experience!!

Should I tell you all what happens when I listen to good music? I go crazy! I feel my ears are lucky to be blessed with good music..

My ears love it! They want more. Its like a full meal for the ears. They are happy, satisfied.

So, lets get back to what I originally thought to write about. My experiences with Paduta Teeyaga.

S.P. Balasubramanyam is the heart and soul of this program. He is amazing! He is unbiased, unjudgemental, true person.

His songs made me get tears. Every song he sings, I become speechless and awestuck!

Cool!

Kavitha, you keep saying 'Cool..Cool..', whenever we talk. I like the word 'Cool'. Its like a whiff of fresh air on my face..:).

Money vs Experiences

Its true that money lets you buy an experience. But after couple of years down the road, you only remember the experience. Especially when you describe a friend, 'hey I went to Key-West, first time I did Para-Sailing, it was awesome, It felt like I was the queen of the Universe!'..haha.

I dont say that, 'Hey, I spent total 400$ for my key-west trip'. Why? because money is just a means to buy experiences but experiences are what that stay with you forever!

After few years, when you have a full-time job and are settled in life, money keeps coming but if you are not doing anything with money other than paying bills, then in your old age, all you have is a huge bank balance but no experiences in life..:).

So, spend money to learn something every year, dont put in the bank. If you put it in bank, its just a piece of paper. If you give it to learn something, its an experience! Its a skill! Be it learning a Guitar or learning swimming lesson!

Missing my ATT days!

I am missing my ATT friends.  Well, I am happy today with my new job but sometimes in life even though you struggled in something previously, you still remember those days. And cherish the good part of the struggle.

Those days of Struggle and Happiness. With struggle, comes happiness. I had some complaints in that job.
But somehow, the warmth of my coworkers made things alright! Its just a phase in my life. I cant go back to that job anymore as things have changed there.

I will cherish my ATT days.

Good Old Things!

The good old kobbari bondam rocks! Its been there for centuries. I had it as a kid and as an adult today.
And even after 20 years, the goodness of coconut water will remains.

The good old kunkudikay rasam for hair, I used it as a kid and today again when I used, my hair had the same goodness in it after use.

The road ice-cream guy that sells icecream at each house. Buying and having right there. Its precious!

Mom!

Mom's love is unconditional. No matter how many mistakes you do. Mom is always there for you.
Its like her heart is a clean white board. If you make a mistake, she will wipe of for you and make it a clean white board again.

No matter how many mistakes you make, she never gets tired of wiping the board.

100% Happiness

Do what you love to do! Pagal ladki..If things are bothering you, dont just think of them alone.
Do, what you think will make you happy today. As today is what you have right now.

As kishore kumar says, 'Aanewala pal Jaane wala hai', yeh pal ko khona mat! Live in the present. Often we forget to do this but its so good.

When your mind is 100% happy, you are more productive than before.

Good music and Good Food, today I realized these are the most important things for me to be happy.
Good music fills my heart and Good food fills my stomach..:)..What else do I want? Good Company, yeah, that would complete it! Then my mind is 100% happy..:).

My mom's old cotton Saree

From many days, I had this thought in mind. Now it has to come out. Otherwise my stomach will explode..:).

Have you ever smelled your mom's old cotton saree? It has got the best smell! You can take shower with it, or just keep smelling and be happy with it. Its just different. Its kind of like the smell of mud when it rains. The strange thing is that when she first bought it, it doesnt smell this way. Over years, after wash by wash, some mom's mamtha enters into it.

Maa ki Mamtha..HaHa..Moms are nurturing.

Why do some old things don't lose their charm?

Hardware vs Makeup

Just like 'BestBuy is made for men(Atleast I think so..:-). Sephora is for Women'. If you leave a man in Bestbuy, he doesnt know the time. He can explore the world of LCDtvs, Cameras, any new gadgets that make your life easy?

For Women, you may ask is anything really 'useful' or what she is getting from makeup? Well, women does  most of the things to satisfy herself. And for her, looking good is her biggest achievement. She would do anything for it.

Life is not always jokey-jokey!

Life is not always jokey-jokey. For the first time, I am writing about something sad in my blog.

If there is Good, there is Evil too. On one hand, there is the gang rape that shook the Nation!
On the other hand, I am in my own happy world, as I am getting married! :).

Life has different shades. There were shades of green and there were shades of grey in my life too. And now, when the whole world is mourning about the gang rape, I seem to not react much or disturb much. Not that I dont care.

Whenever something happens in this world, people react the same way, 'OMG, this thing never happened before', 'Unbelievable!!', 'Heartbreaking'...ok. hold on a minute.

When '911' attacks happened, people reacted the same way. When a guy opened fire in Colorado, for the movie, 'The Dark Knight', people said, 'Oh, no body opened fire in a movie theatre before!'.

The fact in life is, bad things are always happening in some part of the world.  No matter what law changes,if kids are prohibited from guns and if all the girls in India learnt 'Karate' and become 'black belt' and 'brown belt', STILL, rapes WILL happen! Bad things are unavoidable.

Who knows why these 5 men thought of such a brutal thing? Evil exists in people. If there are good people, then there are bad people too!

Just like in Diwali, we are taught that the good wins over evil. One day will come when these 5 men, will have daughters and then if something happens to them, they will know how it feels! LK's!!
Everyone learns a lesson in life! And if they didnt in this 'janam'. It will be in the next 'janam'. Till that time, poor people will be victimized. There is no solution for this unfortunately.

Bye

For some reason, I dont like the word 'Bye'. It sounds 'rude' to me. Very Straight and rude.

Instead of 'Bye', we should use 'Will see you again', means 'Phir Milenge'.

'Bye' in Hindi if translated would be 'Alvida'. It means that I am leaving, very negative.
