People are skin deep..!

'Beauty is skin deep', 'Dont judge a book by its cover', when I hear these..I realize that they talk about the 'depth' in things and people.

Yeah, people are also skin deep. When I see a person, I feel how happy they are.
But when I talk to them. Thats actually when I know.
What you see is actually what thats not there. Some people fake happiness as they cant find true happiness.

Some people hide the fact that they have huge life-threatening problems but outside they look hard as a shell. How can they hide everything inside?

Whats the size of a mind or heart? Is there a memory limit on the size of the brain? :) I always got this doubt.

Its the Holiday Season!!!

Its the Holiday season..and that makes me happy..and khush..Memories of warm cookies baking in the oven. Along with the apple, cinnamon candle's warm scent that hits the air.

A Big screen TV and a nice red cozy sofa where we can cozy up and enjoy the TV. Waking up on the Friday after ThanksGiving. Running to all stores and checking the best deals in town. Having a warm Egg nog coffee at Starbucks which is only available during the Holiday season.

Wish I can take off the whole december after Thanksgiving for vacation. That would be loads of fun....!

Diwali!! makes me nostalgic

On this day of Diwali, cant help but write about my thoughts in my blog that were pouring in since morning.

First the excitement started with the Diwali lunch which followed with my song in office today. Everyone enjoyed it. Looking at the picture above, the oil diyas I used to help my mom to light in India back when I was a kid. All those thoughts roll in front.

That smell of crackers in the streets. The noise and sound. The excitement.

God I miss India a lot on this day!!

My new mouse

Yay..I got a new mouse which is a breeze to use and I love it!!!

Dont think anyone would write a blog about a mouse. Well, I was so frustrated with my old mouse that I got in ebay for $3.75 that I was desparate for a good mouse.

It feels light on my hand and works like a charm!

Now, my love for computer mice has increased! Its a life saver..!

Jaane tu ya Jaane na

Just saw this movie the other day. Some thoughts...

ok..to sum it up, I like the movie. Mainly how it was treated. Especially like the beginning of the movie when the titles roll, the jazz music and the people in the background. It looked like a painting in movement. nice.....have never seen it in an indian movie..

The friends at the airport is an ok idea. But the girl who was listening to the story was so annying. kept on whining and later she herself started listening to the story.
But it was just a story of two friends, not an epic, don t know why they thought to narrate it to her..:)

They should have picked a different scene to narrate the story, may be a background voice narrating the story instead of the friends..hmmm..that would be more realistic.

But still it wasnt bad.

Then I was waiting for the song 'kabhi kabhi aditi'. Its soo silly that he sings this song for aditi because of a cat. I was expecting a breakup in aditi's life. 'kabhi kabhi aditi koi apna lagta hai..' Yeah Right!!!
The song was misplaced at the wrong scene. The reason it was placed there was to show that he cared so much for aditi. hmm..too good to be true. But might b e true..dont know.

The movie had a total 'bombay' feel to it!! Totallly...you feel like you are with your friends in Bombay. Also liked some characters and scenes in the movie.
Aditi's brother, interesting guy, he talks very less but is a very deep person. After looking at his room, aditi is so surprised to know her bro is soo talented.
I first couldnt figure out they were siblings, thought they were friends.

And later in the movie, 'Jay's girlfriend, some things about her and her life. The first thing I thought about her, she was soo beautiful.
Her parents, they never loved each other, just blamed each other, they acted very natural. Just to make herself happy, she says, they loved each other so much even though they fight.
That was not true. She says, 'Life is not perfect, so we just have to create an illusion that it is...', soooo true..

You cant keep thinking they dont love each other, Instead put it in a different way, that they themselves dont know how much they love because they fight, only when you love, you fight.

Anyway, it was a good movie. Genelia had this arrogant attitude which I didnt like much. As she weas portrayed as a sweet gal in most of her movies. Well she did her role well, acted as a spoiled brat.

Jay(amir khan's nephew) is so cute. Acted well towards the end in emotional scenes. Love the song, 'Tu bole glass aadha khali..main bolun aadha bhara'. and the jazzzzzzzzzzz in the background..brilliant Rehman.

That changed the whole feel of the movie!!

Epcot..An experience in Epcot..

Epcot..A world of its own. I felt like I visited many countries in one day. What does a country comprise of? People? And Places.
We went to Mexico, China, Italy and France. Out of which I Italy is a place that I will never forget.

Out of all my experiences, Italy is one thats still sticked to my mind that I have the after thoughts and I cant forget it.

We went to this Italian Restaurent. I already started feeling that I was in Italy and not in a restaurent in Epcot.

The women had a subtle smile on the face and a lot of beauty in their body language. They came when we needed and didnt come unnecessarily.
All the boys were like brothers to each other. They were holding shoulders while singing a 'Happy Birthday' song in Italian to a customer. And one fella poked someone in the back and ran away.

This is what I noticed. Brotherhood. In today's world, we all have our own laptops, our own cars, that we lose the bond sometimes.

But I saw that the Italians still restored it. And all the women wore frocks. May be they wear in Italy.

We ordered pizzaa with eggplant and artichokes. And didnt expect it would be so delicious. They fried tomatoes and made fresh marinara sauce and they were very light on cheese.
Had a very healthy pizzaa.

Then I realized that pizzaa 'IS' healthy. Unlike the pizzas that you get in Pizzaahut full of cheese. I guess Pizzaa became unhealthy after coming to the U.S
The original pizzaa was meant to be healthy.

Me and Body Wash!!!!

Body Wash can be so casual like a toothpaste for some people. But for me, its something I rejuvenate with everyday. I imagine myself in that location for each type of bodywash.

A Girl's Life

Born as a girl feels lucky sometimes considering how much variety we have in our life.
A girl can makeover her hair, her lips, her face. Whatever she wants. And its fun too!
Life is monotonous without variety. And a girl is all about variety.

Today when I was moving my apartment stuff, I was collecting all my lotions and body washes and lip sticks and all. I was soooo happy to see all that. I earned so much to invest in these things..:) half of my salary goes here.

Me and Marta..:)

Whats this relation between me and a train? Why am I so excited about it?
A train is just something that takes you from one place to another. But if a train is giving you peace of mind, then its more than anything. If its so close to your work that you can walk and get in. Its like a car with a driver that is sent to you to pick up from work.:) Where you dont have to worry about parking or traffic.

Ever wonder that someone would write a blog about Marta Train? This is one admirer of trains who had to travel in Train in recent times and ever since I started travelling, I always wanted to blog. So many thoughts cross my mind.

My love for trains came from India. In India, our trains are not only used as means of transport. But to talk. Here people are like sitting in a library. They dont talk much.
And they dont talk to the next person either, every person is hesitant to break the ice. They feel that they are not concerned to know about other's life. And its something called, 'privacy'.

haha..well I think its just humanity. But, after coming to U.S. Even I started thinking this way. When someone does something different than their culture, people look at you weirdly.
And you feel weird too.

Even though I want to start talking, I am hesitant too. In India, I was not, as everyone does it.

I think travelling in public transportation is much interesting than a car where you are alone with you and your music. Honkig at the car infront of you. Taking food in drive thru's. This whole concept of drive thru's is for people who dont want to get off the car, love their car so much.

Life...you taught me a lot!

Life, the 4 letter word which is more than just 4 letters.

Hey Life, you taught me a lot. There were heart melting moments and heart breaking moments. There were moments of Awe and there were moments of dullness.

Here I stand, and can proudly say that I am a successful woman walking on street side near a coffee shop. Dont know why I feel successful when I am walking on a busy street with other people along with me with a coffee cup.

It was the same coffee, same street but a different girl couple of years ago.
I am the matured form of me today.

Heartbreaks are not as bad as the first time. You told me how to recover. And get back to the grind.
Job layoffs are also not bad as the first time.

You taught me that there is a second time for everything where you can learn your lesson. I was in class 101 for every chapter of life. But I was soon a senior in the class as time passed by.

There is no one who is left immature in life. Even a baby learns how to walk on its own. And a heart knows how to heal with time.

Life, give me the problem and I will resolve it for you. Unless things that are not in my hands, I am able to handle most things with courage today.

A good recipe of life needs 4 ingredients: Good friends, ability to forget, time and parents who love you unconditionally.

Indians Life Style

Today I was talking to some women at work. Then I realized most South Indian's life style is more or less the same.
They all do the same things.
Husbands work in some development/programming job, either JAVA, SAP or Data Warehousing.
Most Indian wife's are QA. No need to even ask what they do. And most of them work for the big fish companies like IBM, CISCO, Microsoft.
You must have also heard things like, 'Costco Membership', 'Taking food from home','Cutting fruits by buying in bulk rather than buying fresh cut fruits', 'Managing with one car'.

Taking a bus transportation to work. If we only talk about women, most of them marry the guy showed by parents. When they get settled after marriage, most of them behave the same way.
Cook the favorite food of husbands most times. Have a Vonage connection at home and talk to the parents in India often.
If kids are born, then also make the kids talk to them in India.

No offense ladies..! This is just my finding. Dont you agree with me??

After sometime, I feel that all Indians will walk and talk the same way. Only the way they look will be different. But all are like Identical twins..!

P.S: If you ask me why I posted Katrina's wallpaper. Well because I couldnt find any other one..:)

Smile..Girl!! Life has its ups and downs..

Smile girl..the thing that made ppl fall in love with you! The one thing that keeps you happy. The one thing thats your strength. The winsome smile that got you selected in so many interviews, Yes Get it again!

Cry for 1 minute and Smile for the rest of the time. As you grow up,the cry time should decrease and smile time should increase. As you grow up, you learn to accept more things with a smile!

Even if life treats you with various challenges, find your reason to smile, find the one reason to keep you happy. Dont lose yourself totally!!!

Picture the 'Happy' you and just try to be! I know its not easy but atleast you can try!

Memories...Memories..and..memories..

Memories...Memories..will they ever end?

Friends make memories and memories stay forever. Especially when your memory power is soo good, you can even remember the scene from past where you were riding a bus and suddenly had a flat tire or when you last time had pani puri.
Or the last time you went to DisneyLand.
Memory is like an index in the mind.

Things that influence us so much..

We meet different people in life who do different things and talk to you about them. I am a person who want to always try something new. Be it anything. And if I like it, it will stay with me forever.
Sai Baba has a great influence on my life. As a kid, I was never into Baba. But today, I can proudly say that I am a great disciple of Baba. I can drive miles of distance just for his visit.
I can make a huge meal just for giving to Baba. When I read his aarathi, I feel so peaceful, that I cant describe how it feels.
And when I visit his temple, I dont know if its Marble floors or if its white walls and white Baba's statue. People say white stands for peace. But only if peaceful people wear white, it looks peaceful, otherwise it isnt. Baba's demeanor and cool composition suits the white color. It adds to his peace.

When I get tensed in life, I know that Baba is still in my thoughts, then that means he is with me. That gives me so much strength. I am not alone.

I feel the company of a good friend,a belief in something that keeps you at peace is necessary in life.

Life has no meaning without these. A friend who is with you through the kith and kin of life and who doesnt judge you for what you are.
And God who gives you the same amount of unlimited peace everytime you read his Aarathi is just precious.

Keep the beliefs and keep the good friends who trust you. Believe in yourself. Devote atleast 1 hour for God in a week where you dont think about anything.

Don't forget that God is equally important in life. Just like we brush our teeth, eat lunch and dinner.

Done for the day!

I am done for the day when I am looking at the clock constantly to hit 5pm.
I am done for the day when I want to browse facebook or orkut.
I am done for the day when I yawn!
I am done for the day when I keep looking at the phone to see if I had a missed call or if someone is calling.
I am done for the day if I start planning what to cook for dinner tonight :).

Dhokla Disaster!!

ok..so..my dhokla today turned out to be a dhoka!

I was successful in making GITS kheer but GITS didnt provide good instructions for DHOKLA!!
After seeing Manjula on youtube. I realized that the batter should be creamy but not watery like I got.
So, I gave up my trials as I wasted 2 hours already.

My Mumbai Memories...

Hi guys, Do any of you remember the typical scene in India where Taxi drivers sleep in the driver's seat like when they dont get customers around 3 or 4pm in the afternoon everyday.
I saw this infront of my office building in U.S actually, so it made me nostalgic.
In India, we see this so often. Then we wake up the driver and he takes us to wherever we wanted to go.

Speaking of Taxi Drivers, I remember a trip of mine in Mumbai, we had only 5 hours halt in Mumbai Airport, we requested a taxi to tour us around Mumbai city without stepping out.
So, he drove us around various places like Chowpati beach, Band Stand(where many celebs have their houses) and also he showed us the house of Lata Mangeshkar in the heart of Mumbai.

The Mumbai heat, hustle and bustle of the population. I dont know a single person on the road but I felt very happy to see so many different kinds of people. You can find ladies who are extremely traditional and ladies wearing a tank top and shorts travelling in the same bus. Its interesting.
If you are feeling hot, have something chilled like cool masala corn or fresh fruit juice.
The grinder might be broken but the shopkeeper will create juice in 'some' way which we dont know. All we know is how tasty it is. Once I gave 100Rs and drank juices of all fruits, Mango, Orange, Pineapple, Mosambi, Sapota and Sitaphal juice.

And we asked taxi driver to take us for lunch and he took us to the best fast-food place, we ate chinese fried rice and also pav bhaji.

Oh and I cant forget the tea I had infront of World Trade Center, Mumbai. Sooo delicious!

At the end of the day, we were so filled with the places as well as the food and the customerservice of the guy, we gave him 500Rs tip just for his kind heart!!

Well, we cant pay price for kindness, its invaluble!!

This is sappu signing off....

I will come back with another sweet memory of mine from India!

Till then keep rocking and rolling(I copied this from many anchors in Indian TVs).

Whats on my mind? Shoes, lipstick, eye shodow..

Life keeps changing and you need to find new favorites. Today while I was in the elevator, lots of random thoughts came to me.

Different people come and go. Each has their own story of life. The first thing I do is observe their dressing(by now you know I am a typical woman :)).One has aqua-blue nail polish,(my new favorite). I am going to get one soon.
Have seen a lot of women, One has a great body, I wonder when I will have one.

One was in nicely fitted pants that suit their body. Well, her body is perfect, hence the pants were perfect. And nice shoes. When my mind was talking to me whenever I am walking or in the elevator, I felt like Carrie Bradshaw from 'Sex and the City'.

The quest to be a perfect woman never ends.

Mind has something or the other all the time. The only time when my mind stops thinking is when I am listening to a song.

My new food indulgence-Butter Biscuit

My new indulgence-Butter Biscuit at Cafe Big Apple, GA. Previously, I was fond of a place called Emerald Coast where they had BlueBerry muffin which was so fluffy.
Now its changed to butter biscuit.

I met another chinese lady who is sweet after the one at Blimpie. Cafe Big Apple has breakfast every morning till 10:30am. Everyday I get free at 11 and go there just to eat their biscuit. Thats how passionate I get if I like something.

There were some days where she didnt have any biscuit left by the time I go.
But recently when I went, she started saving a biscuit for me as she knows how crazy I am. Its interesting that she cares about me so much. I am just a stranger. But it was nice of her to do that.

I sometimes feel, when you want to get something with all your wish in the heart, God makes sure you get it someway.

Wherever I go, I find a new indulgence so that I wont miss the old one :)

The 'Content' feeling

How many of you feel content after doing something? The sense of satisfaction. Fullness, happiness and feeling of complete satisfaction.
When I get my own lunch from home with whatever I need, I feel content.
When I make my tea and it comes out really well, I feel it.
When I finish my work and am very satisfied that I did it well, I feel very satisfied.

Its important to be content in general. Otherwise you feel like something is incomplete.

Forest Gump!!

Touched by the southern charm in Forest Gump!!

'My mama always had a way to explain things the way I understand'.

His mama had so much influence on him throughout his life. Even when he was with friends, he says, 'My mama used to say'.
When she was about to die, she said some things that felt very touching.
'I did the best as your mama, God made me your mama, I had no idea'.

so innocent was he, so adorable and cute guy, Tom Hanks with his cute accent and interesting thoughts.

He says, 'she slept and slept and slept as if she didnt sleep before. But I didnt care, My Jenny is back'.

'Why dont you love me Jenny? I am not a smart man but I know what love is'

How did I ever miss this movie?

Self Motivation

It often happens to me that all negative forces come to me all at once and bombard me, Making me stressful and confused.
Just sucks! I sometimes feel that life would have been nicer without choices. The more choices, the more the confusion.

And you lose your motivation and interest in doing things all of a sudden. Its like a power-cut in India. All of a sudden a blackout.

Positive thoughts and inspirational thoughts only inspire you for some time. But you need to motivate yourself.

May be talking to a good friend who is cheerful would help.

Comfort in little things

I got inspired by this book I was reading, 'Comfort and Joy' which talks about how we can feel comfort at little things in life.

What we do on day to day basis has a lot of instances which actually making us comfortable. Take a moment to feel it.

Feel the morning rays on your cheeks when you wake up from the bed. For people like me who dont have a bedroom facing East, come to the part of room which is facing sun and feel the sun-light.

Sit on a quiet chair and take a moment for yourself.
For a tea lover like me, I take comfort even in making tea, as I boil water and then the aroma of tea as its boiling, is a moment I enjoy. As it blends all the spices, cardomom, ginger and pepper as they are boiling..As I am drinking, I enjoy it more.

Take comfort in taking a shower. Smell the soap. Feel the warm water as its cleansing your skin and close your eyes...get lost in the aroma...

Feel comfort listening to the radio, esp the NPR radio, the reception is so clear,it makes you feel cozy and warm in your car...:)

While I wear a warm jacket, I feel the warmth of a jacket as it wraps my skin.

'

Inspirations..

I pickup inspiration from a thought or from an act or from an inanimate object too sometimes.
Inspiration is everywhere, we just have to find it.

Eating too much spicy food teaches us that we should eat something sweet in other way,it teaches us how to balance our tastes.

The bond between me and peter griffn!

Peter Griffin in Family Guy. I think he is the most cute and cuddly and adorable character.

He makes stupid things and laughs about it. Once he wrecks his car into a TV Antenna and whole colony is wondering who did that.

Then he blames his daughter as they both did it. He teaches her driving in the wrong way where he says,'If you see a car riding next to you while driving, make sure you always race and win'..lol..

So many dreams...so little time

I have so many dreams that I are still yet to be achieved.
And my dream's list keeps adding day by day and I end up not fulfilling atleast one.
When I start pursuing one dream, things like money, time and other priorities come and then my dream changes again.
Do we dream things that are do-able or sometimes that are unreasonable?

The stupid imagination of our mind takes us somewhere. It wants to be something but it doesnt think when we first dream about it.
Later when we think the practicality, we feel like we should have thought all this before dreaming.

Well, its never too late. Keep jotting down your dreams. Then list the practical things that are helping/preventing you from doing them
Then strike off the dreams that are unreasonable.

Ekladki bheegi bhaagi si...

ok..I have to accept that my previous blog was a little too cheesy...you guys should agree that I am still trying to perfect my writing skills in blogging..

what to write, how to write, when to write? well I just write whenever I feel like penning something down. So,today I drenched in the rain at work. I was given an option to take an umbrella by our office building people as they have free umbrellas, but I didnt want to as it was not raining at the moment but in the back of my head(I wanted to get wet in the rain).

But as always unexpected things happen in life, it started raining rather pouring when I was out.
I drenched fully but because my pants are dark color, no one could notice. I was blaming myself why I didnt take the umbrella. I was looking at other people who had umbrella..
So, I was running to find my way back, dreching...

But then later when i came inside,I told myself, 'wow...I like this feeeling', i am refreshed..i like that i didnt get my umbrella...

Sometimes in life, you forget some crucial things, like directions, umbrellas watch etc
But forgetting things might have their own fun!
If you forget something, just forget thinking about it and have fun...

If you ever get a chance, go to the edge of the city, you, sky and the rain thats it.
Get drenched completely, just dont worry as there are dryers hehe..
Walk and walk and walk...feel like you are some heroine in a bollywood song, like
the heroine in Geetanjali..or trisha in NVNV or Aishwarya Rai....

Just have fun.......the best type of fun..which doesnt cost a thing..

Dhokla Disaster!

ok..so..my dhokla today turned out to be a dhoka!

I was successful in making GITS kheer but GITS didnt provide good instructions for DHOKLA!!
After seeing Manjula on youtube, I realized that the batter should be creamy but not watery like I got.
So, I gave up my trials as I wasted 2 hours already.

You always make me feel better my Friend!

No matter how bad the situation is, you are always there.
Rain or Shine
Sunday or Monday
January or March.
I can conquer whatever I dream to if you are there.

You told me to fight when I was losing hope.
You told me to try for the 101th chance when I failed 100 chances.
You told me to do what I love to do when I am down.
You care so much about my happiness that you dont realize what makes you happy.

But I am afraid I will lose you one day! I hope that day never comes!

Fog on the skyscraper!

I like it when it rains and it leaves fog on high-rise buildings. IT looks very peaceful to me.
When it rains, I would rather take a train and go to a HillStation.
Or
When it rains, I would sit on the 22nd floor balcony and invite friends over and chit-chat.
Or
rather
I would eat something made with Green Bell Pepper.

Badon ke Advice...

Badon ke advice kaam aata hai..hamesha..They have seen more life than you.

Something similar happened to me today.
I was pondering about why sudden changes happen to you in life and I felt like I am the only one in this..

When you are down, talk to a more experienced person how he overcame the problem.
When you putin all your hardwork and still things dont workout, you dont know what to do.
But Change is good.
Life is not bed of roses...I have heard this so many times.
When I see an old man, I think that I have a long way to go.
So many things that I didn't see yet.
So many situations that I havent faced yet.
So many people that I havent met yet.
So many happy moments that are waiting!
So many sad moments too...:(

But its a mix. Life is like a bag of chocolates, you never know what you are gonna get.

The Chinese Lady at the Blimpie

hehehe..i wonder why I am so crazy about Blimpie Sandwich. Not exactly any Blimpie sandwich but the one made by the Chinese lady at Terrell Mill Road.
She is so happy all the time. Is it true that happy people make you happy?

No matter how tired I am. I have to drive to the Blimpie near my house and have a sandwich at the one nearby.
A chinese lady managing Blimpie is interesting as I only saw them managing a beauty salon or a chinese restaurent. But it was unique.
All my tiredness is gone when I see her happy smile. I feel as if she smiles at life, just is 'happy', no reason. She took life as it gets.
As an IT engineer I am not happy with my life sometimes. But managing a Blimpie, she looks much happier..!!

Cardomom Ginger Latte

Cardomom Ginger Latte..

Well, this is the name I came up with. If I sum up the permutations and combinations of all the ingredients that I use in my everyday tea, I can come up with atleast 15 latte's.
That's what Starbucks does, just mix one name with another and make it a different tea.
Caramel Machiato
Caramel Hazelnut latte.
Caramel Vanilla Hazelnet...

My dream to come up with my own coffeeshop is still in thoughts..it will be fulfilled soon...

Just the thought of a tea or coffee makes you smile. Esp the Bru Ad's.

Look.on the left..I didnt realize Bru is also copying starbucks idea...Cinnamon, mocha and creme......blah blah....

Whatever it is....just the word Cappuchino or mocha...makes you think of the rich frothy coffee..on a warm winter day..where you and your cozy cup are lost in the eternal bliss of just drinking it........................
